In my experience, most problems with some 3rd Gen SAAs center around poorly timed / fitted action parts and poorly fitted gripframes. The pictures below show some problems. I have several pairs of ivory grips that were made for Ruger XR3's that 'almost' fit some 1st gen SAA's that have smaller gripframes. The shape of Bud's grips also make me wonder if someone made them fit a Colt 1851 Navy. That gripframe is similar to a SAA, but thinner through the mid-section.
