Disabling ambient sounds in the settings removes the issue, but then I can't hear nature and it sucks. I'm running the game on DX11, WIN10. Switching to DX9 doesn't help.

If you see that, the trick worked. Enjoy. I recommend tweaking the Sound Distance slider in FF14's options to your taste. You will have to do this every time you launch the game, but hey, it works!
