A lot of people recommend Oanda here for beginners, especially with limited capital, but their spreads look terrible I'm new and currently trying to set up a paper trading setup as I'm reading and learning as I go. So in a lot of ways I've heard good arguments that Oanda is a good brokerage to start, especially for low cash volume ( eg ).OANDA has a better mobile app. OANDA account can be linked to myFxbook easily, IG account cannot be linked directly and embedded journal/stats feature is a bit poor. I have both oanda and forex.com ( account was transferred when FXCM stopped operating in the u.s). Oanda has way better spreads and their MetaTrader servers have 4pm daily close. I'm not aware of any brokers that will allow you to hold concurrent long and short positions on the same currency pair. Thank you. Primary account is fxTrade. You can only use fxTrade, the trade software from Oanda, to trade. For MT4 accounts, you can only use MT4 to trade, not fxTrade. Actually you can use fxtrade to trade mt4 accounts. Or at least you can use the mobile app. You can actually "break" the rules of mt4 that way.The disadvantage is that contract sizes are larger than retail fx. Most contracts are $100k and "mini" contracts are not 1/10 of a full like fx. They vary from only 1/2 to 1/4, so you need a much larger account size. Oanda has been really crap recently. Especially their app. The balances are not correct over 10 second lag when completing trades or checking prices and now they won't let you trade crypto durring the weekend.
