The biggest helps I've found was to set the character listening distance to 100 (right on character, no camera). I only had to change that once. Sound to character at 75 percent to the right. Everything but BGM and ambient sound at around 35/40. BGM at either 60 or also 40 depending on how realistic you want to go. I prefer 60 because I love the music. Ambient sounds at 90 or 100. Party sounds at 50 percent. Other players at 35 percent.
