2017 Ford Escape S Shudder. Hey everyone. I have noticed that my ford escape will sometimes shudder when driving around town in stop and go traffic. I believe it’s in second gear. It goes away relatively quick and have no issues on the highway. I asked the dealer about it when I brought it in for the bushing recall and she advised it was normal.

The max torque on the 1.5 liter engine is at about 4200 RPMS and should be holding well until most other revs. So judging the car at 1500 RPMs is a bit low and this "drag" is expected since the car is turbocharged. The Focus and Fiesta are some of the worst. It's the dual clutch system and Ford claims that this inherently part of the new generation a dual clutches. Lawsuits may be on the horizon.
