On the model 49 snow Thrower I set the skid shoes by setting the scraper bar on the garage concrete floor, and then bring the skid shoes to the floor. I am considering do the same for the 47" snow Blower.I mounted them on a 47* John Deere snowblower that is on a X729 JD tractor that was about 1" wider than the snow blower. They stick up above the blower housing so I used a long rod to the top bolt hole for stability. Had to drill holes in the blower housing for 5/8" bolts.
