The Markland Hyrdo Plant is located on the Indiana side of the Markland Locks and Dam near Florence, Indiana. A barrier in the river pulls some of the Ohio River’s flow into and through the plant to spin up to three turbines at a time to produce electricity for the grid before continuing to flow downstream.
