This week's WvW matchups have killed WvW for me and many other servers. The only reason I play GW2 is to WvW. I command almost everyday, help run server training, coordinate with other guilds and try my best to improve my server on a week by week basis. This week has been the final nail on the coffin. At least back when we last had Four tiers, it was still quite active on my Alt, but even when Gandara had two links, they weren't overpopulated. You might also be unlucky with your skin choice. It might simply not work well. Usually, all "gold" dyes look quite good and the newer ones are also "high-contrast" which I personally like on metall armor parts. However, I often find them to be too yellow.
