While I don't know anything specifically about NC State, I do know that, just because you get into vet school, it doesn't mean you are guaranteed to get your DVM. Professors are allowed to fail students, and several per year at other vet schools are either held back to repeat a year or drop out all together. Yes, the vet school does take mainly in-state students, after all it is a state school, but if your grades are good and you are in-state you have a chance no matter what school you went to.
