This is a walk-through for changing the oil on the VTX. The process is the same for both 1300s and 1800s regardless of model. I have to say thanks to David from the VTXOA for snapping these pics and doing the initial write-up which served as a template for this write-up.honda germany gives the service intervalls for the shadow and the x 1300 (no more available since 2006) with 12k km = 7.5 miles with normal oil!!! double with synthetic. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilator) hose is attached to the intake to burn the fumes vented by the engine. Oil comes along with the fumes. If you have the stock air box, there should be a clear tube under the air box to catch some of the oil. Drain the tube and wipe out the throttle with a dry cloth.
