A shred was F-15. B shred was everything but F-15. C shred was sensors. D shred was ECM (Could have C and D shred mixed up, but they were both part of our flight. Sensors was in our same building next door and ECM was in the squadron building on the flight line. Opinions on the 1D7 Merger? I think it's a dumpster fire on a good day. The information is deep when it comes to the same surface level things, but absolutely fails when it comes to things like squadron level comm support questions. Or what happens to our manning with EITAAS.

1D7X1 now has 3 shreds, but this isn’t updated on the retraining list yet. There are other cyber jobs that need additional tests like the EDPT, TAPAS, etc. Look at the Air Force Enlisted Classification Directory (AFECD). Make sure it’s the April 2023 version that you can find through MyFSS.

All the entry minimum requirements are on MyPers. Look up the AFECD and find 1B4. It’ll have all the info you need. As for retraining there is also a retraining tab in MyPers to give you info. Those two items will give you all the black and white Air Force answers you need.

These skills are very marketable for work as a DoD civilian or contractor but not as much else. Contracting jobs doing this job can pay very well ($80,000 to $140,000+) depending on your education level and location. Just don't expect to take this job and walk into a great salary outside of this career field.

Shred is the letter after the afsc title so 1d751"A" or "B" etc. We are all cyber defense operations but the shred indicates which specialty. A is network operations or R is radio frequency. There's lists of what each one is and what they do if you look up cyber defense operations shreds ...
