It's poor strategy that reeks of "We are not confident in our product enough to go into mass production", and if you care about the future of the Deck, or a potential Deck V2, you should wish upon a star that they market it to non-steam users, otherwise it's gonna go the same way as the Steam Controller, except the Deck didn't deserve that.
Steamdeck "lost" by fedex. Before anyone says be patient. The driver (contractor) that was supposed to deliver it with another package said he couldn't find it on the truck. FedEx officially lost my Steam Deck. I was a part of the July 4th group, with the 512 GB model. Package was supposed to arrive Saturday the 9th, reached the delivery center 30 minutes from my house, and then nothing. Finally after 3 days of communication through Twitter FedEx Support, the told me they could not locate my SteamDeck.
