If you don’t have live market data either by paying for it through TradingView or logging into your Tradovate broker in TradingView you’ll be limited to 5 second updates. While the charting is not perfect, it’s very easy to learn and is good for day to day trade initiation. For clarity, i do all my trade planning and real time market observation in TOS and keep just a single window of Tradovate. Market data is much faster in Tradovate compared to TOS.

Tradovate is decent for beginners since it's pretty low barrier to entry. Just know that NinjaTrader costs a good amount for you to use all their services but the charting and scripting features it offers are very nice. Usually with most futures brokers you can pay a monthly/annual fee so that you pay lower or no commissions per trade.

Other than that the platform is pretty laggy compared to quantower , ninja trader etc, but it is a good starter platform. I do the active trader, which is about $80/month and I get $0.19/contract fees.
