A 16 in CHA is decent enough for your esoteric lore checks. You may not do as much damage as a thaumaturge using a different build, but you do have a bit more HP as a result. However, given you also want to be using Intimidation, you may want to drop your CON or WIS by 2 to boost your CHA up to 18.

You need to have it out to make use of it, and you need to be within reach of the target. It is a good Implement to have with the Weapon to have a little extra Temp HP. They Exploit Vulnerability and learn it has weakness 20 to good damage. But it also has resistance 20 to all physical damage that isn't cold iron. Thaumaturge doesn't have a cold iron weapon so they just use a regular metal weapon. The attack hits. So then with damage, as per step three of the damage rules, no immunities apply.
Edit: the bard thing is a general build, a barb, monk, champ, or ranger will serve you a lot better in the frontline. A thaumaturge with mirror and regalia implements is the best marshal, hands down. Found a good use for the air repeater (Double shot thaumaturge) Player Builds. The air repeaters are the only non-advanced weapon that is both reload 0 and 1 handed.
