Gym floor is wall to walk carpet, plywood over that (3 pieces of 2’ x 4’ fit perfectly ), horse stall mat over that, then Tread. No issues at all accept that the Tread tends to “creep” forward over time. Keep an eye on this because if the front wheel go off the edge it is near impossible to get it back up.

Weight limits are there for a reason. I realize 30 lbs doesn't seem like much, but they've done research on why they recommend that as the max weight.
