I just wrap a business card around the slide to protect from marring. Never had even the smallest scratch or mar on the slide.

I have a springer precision trigger in the 4.5 frame and since it was fitted to my 4.5 slide, it is not as good of a trigger with a different slide. That would be my only caution.
